If you can't have a real horse, the next best thing is a model horse. And if you can't have the real Peter Gabriel, make crappy Paint composites of him riding to the rescue. If the rock star gig ever falls through, he could make a good cowboy.

I used to be heavily into the model horse hobby and stupidly sold or gave away 99.9% of my models before moving to England. Now that I'm back in Philly, I'm gradually buying some replicas of my childhood Breyers using money I get from writing about model horses.

For a while, I had a job ghostwriting under men's names about water filtration systems, but it petered out (pun not intended, of course.)

Water is a key symbol in many of Peter Gabriel's works. There isn't an album (or CD) of his that doesn't have at least one song about water, the most famous of which are "Red Rain" and "Here Comes the Flood". This photo was taken in 2008 when Peter won the MIDEM lifetime achievement award. He had a broken leg at the time, which explains his awkward position.

Well, these articles have a home, but I didn't for most of the five and a half years I lived in England. My Mom wants me to write all of those experiences down, but I can't face that just yet.

Oddly enough, although living within a few miles of Peter's studio in Wiltshire, I never went to visit him. He did walk by me a couple of times when I was in Bath and biked by me in Bathwick. However, I felt so ashamed of myself for being homeless that I hid from him. When you feel ashamed of yourself, the last person you want to notice you is your hero.

I'm not entirely sure what machine Peter is using here because it's been nearly forever since I've seen the inside of a gym. However, that doesn't stop me from writing about the equipment other people sweat on. My excercise equipment? Walking my dog gives me a full body workout.

I kinda wonder if Peter works out to music...and if so, what? "Eye of the Tiger?" "The Ride of the Valkries?" "Kung Fu Fighting"? "Bolero"? What? These interviewers always ask him dumb questions like "Is there going to be a Genesis reunion?" Why not "What tunes do you work out to?"

Here Peter is donating one of his old cell phones to save the world somehow. He is a great believer in saving the world through "mo-bi-el" phones (as he pronounces them).

Meanwhile, I'm still trying to figure out if it is worth re-activating my cell phone. I still think that in twenty or thirty years, cell phones will result in a lot of brain tumors. When that day comes, I will righteously resist the urge to say "Told you so!"
